PALOMA MARTINEZ


Paloma is a writer/producer with an MFA in Film/TV Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. She focuses on producing conscious, inclusive, and fresh content to entertain, provoke, and inspire a radically empowering culture for ALL.  

​

Paloma most recently produced 50 mini-documentaries to promote fighting climate change with diet change. She's also developing two feature films with Mandalay Pictures and continues to write for television and film. 

Paloma previously collaborated with filmmaker Diego Luna for over five years. She produced and co-wrote, Nana, a short film directed and co-written by Diego Luna, commissioned by the Sundance Institute & Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for the Gates Short Film Challenge. The film played in a special showcase at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. She also wrote/directed a branded content piece for the Cesar Chavez Foundation that played for audiences in Phoenix, New York, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, alongside Diego Luna’s, Cesar Chavez. She also lent her talents on Cesar Chavez and Mr. Pig directed by Diego, as well as Spanish language productions, The Chosen Ones, and Paraíso.

During her MFA program at USC, Paloma wrote and directed Adán, her USC thesis, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival '13. The film earned her both the Audience Award and Jury Award in the Diversity at Cannes Showcase. It also screened at the San Diego Latino Film Festival and won best short film at the Highland Park Film Festival '14 in Los Angeles. Paloma’s other short-form work has played at other various film festivals including, LA Short Fest, New York International Latino Film Festival, Athens International Festival, and the USC First Look Festival.

Before she moved to Los Angeles, Paloma received degrees in both Visual Arts and Media/Film & Communications from the University of California, San Diego. Shortly after graduating she began to write, direct, and produce short films and online advertisements, in places as diverse as San Diego, South Africa, Peru, Honduras, and Mexico.

Paloma lives, writes, produces, hikes, meditates, sometimes sleeps, and reads most of the time in Los Angeles, CA.

WRITING & PRODUCING

Paloma's most recent feature screenplay, "Becoming Bessie" is in development at Mandalay Pictures. 

​

Paloma's writing focuses on stories that bring the multi dimensional lives of women, marginalized communities, underrepresented people, and the LGBTQ+ to the big and small screen. 

​

​

Paloma is also currently co-producing her feature film "Becoming Bessie" and "Little Con Lili" (writer director: Gabriela Medina Garcia) with Mandalay Pictures. 


Paloma supports projects that are inclusive, fresh, defiant, and disruptive. She guides/coaches content creators through development in order to get your project ready for production. She specializes in creative producing and appreciates being a part of the entire process.

You'll find her pouring over a script, on set, and yes, even in the editing suite. Paloma loves to collaborate with artists from all walks of life who have a visual story to tell.
